The impact you’ll make
At Lam Research, we are building the next generation of intelligent IT operations through Agentic AI, platform engineering, and autonomous service management. As the Principal Agentic Architect, you will define the architecture that enables AI agents to reason, automate, and operate at enterprise scale while ensuring security, governance, reliability, and observability remain foundational.
You will establish the long-term vision for how AI agents, human operators, and digital platforms work together to create a highly automated, resilient, and self-improving IT ecosystem. Your work will directly influence how Lam scales operations globally and advances toward an agent-native enterprise operating model.
What you’ll do
- Define the enterprise architecture and technology strategy for Agentic AI, AIOps, autonomous operations, and intelligent automation.
- Establish architectural standards, design patterns, and governance frameworks for AI agents and multi-agent systems.
- Design the integration architecture connecting agents to enterprise systems including ServiceNow, cloud platforms, observability platforms, CMDB, developer platforms, and security tooling.
- Develop reference architectures for AI-powered incident response, service management, platform operations, FinOps, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.
- Partner with executives and technology leaders to align agentic capabilities with business and operational priorities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and vendors in AI, automation, platform engineering, and cloud-native ecosystems.
- Define policies, controls, and approval models that enable safe autonomous operations.
- Drive architecture reviews and technical governance across multiple engineering and operations teams.
- Mentor engineers and architects while fostering innovation and best practices. Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline with 15+ years of related experience or 12+ years with a Master's degree or +8 years with a PhD / MBA or equivalant experience
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, platform engineering, or large-scale IT operations.
- Experience designing enterprise architectures on Azure, AWS, or multi-cloud platforms.
- Experience with automation, observability, and modern software engineering practices.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native architectures, and enterprise integration.
- Experience leading large technology transformation initiatives.
- Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience designing AI/ML platforms or generative AI solutions.
- Experience with agent frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, Microsoft Agent Framework, LangGraph, AutoGen, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), AIOps, Platform Engineering, or Internal Developer Platforms.
- Knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI, and enterprise security practices.
- Industry certifications in cloud architecture, AI, enterprise architecture, or cybersecurity. Core Competencies

This position will be occupied in Villach. It is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry in occupation group H, depending on Education. A higher payment is negotiable depending on expertise and skills. The monthly salary is paid 14 times per year.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
