As a Senior Accounting Officer, you are the first point of contact for our high-risk and/or high-demand clients in the Netherlands across a full range of financial, accounting, and tax matters. Together with the Legal Officer, who is responsible for legal and compliance matters, you are accountable for managing the client relationship under the supervision of the Supervisor Accounting. You are committed to building long-term relationships with clients and business partners, helping clients navigate the complex environments in which they operate while considering the interests of all relevant stakeholders. You understand that strong collaboration and teamwork are essential to achieving success for everyone involved. You are part of a team of knowledgeable professionals dedicated to proactively delivering tailored services that meet the specific needs of our clients. You manage a client portfolio and its day-to-day operations and planning. In addition, you act as a coach and mentor to junior and medior team members, serving as a key point of contact for financial, accounting, and tax-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example in delivering operational excellence and high-quality client service.
- Act as the team's subject matter expert and primary point of contact for complex financial, accounting, and tax matters.
- Coach and support junior and medior colleagues, delegating work and reviewing outputs where appropriate.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, banks, auditors, advisors, and other stakeholders.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and administration.
- Prepare and review journal entries, financial statements, annual reports, regulatory filings, and client-specific reports.
- Oversee cash management activities, bank accounts, and payment instructions.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, legal professionals, and other external parties to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Identify risks, issues, and process improvement opportunities, escalating and resolving matters as needed.
- Support client meetings, special projects, and business development initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping, timely filings, data integrity, time reporting, invoicing, and debtor management.
- Monitor client profitability and service agreements, proactively addressing potential gaps and opportunities.
- Act as a gatekeeper, helping ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and TMF Group policies.
- Serve as a backup to the Supervisor Accounting and perform additional duties as required.
Key Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ACA, SPD, HEAO AA, HEAO BE), or equivalent experience and expertise.
- 3-5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, including Dutch GAAP, IFRS, and preferably US GAAP.
- Solid understanding of finance, accounting, and cost control principles.
- Experience with SAP, CaseWare, and Microsoft Dynamics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Dutch is a strong advantage.
- Interest in international financial and capital markets, as well as financial instruments.
