Amentum is seeking an Island Room Manager to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. This role manages the daily operations of the Island Room, including food service, beverage operations, recreation, and entertainment activities, ensuring exceptional customer service and seamless execution.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee operational processes and standards to maintain efficiency and high-quality service in accordance with contractual and performance requirements.
- Supervise and lead staff responsible for food, beverage, and entertainment operations, providing direct oversight, training, and mentoring to ensure high-performance outcomes.
- Coordinate the planning and execution of recreational events and activities to engage and cater to the needs and interests of patrons.
- Ensure the Island Room maintains a welcoming, organized, and safe environment that meets guest expectations and adheres to established quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental guidelines for food and beverage service operations, including sanitation and hygiene requirements.
- Monitor food and beverage costs and manage budgets to ensure alignment with financial goals.
- Develop and maintain an efficient scheduling system to ensure flawless daily operations and staff coverage.
- Coordinate with vendors for the timely ordering of food, beverages, and other supplies to ensure operational needs are met.
- Liaise with government representatives and other stakeholders to address concerns, accommodate special events, and meet operational objectives.
- Analyze customer feedback and develop action plans to improve services and operations.
- Ensure proper handling of emergencies or contingencies with the ability to be on-site within one hour of emergency notification.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reports related to operations, staffing, customer experience, and inventory management.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- A four-year degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, food and beverage management, hospitality, or a related field.
- OR a minimum of three years of general business management experience demonstrating knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation, food and beverage, and entertainment operations, equivalent to education qualifications.
- In addition to the above, at least five (5) years of specialized experience as a middle manager in a similar civilian commercial business capacity is required.
- In-depth knowledge and proven experience in managing food service, beverage, entertainment, and recreation operations with clear understanding of the interests and motivations of individuals and groups.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills, with experience supervising staff and effectively delegating job responsibilities.
- Proven ability to oversee operational budgets, control expenses, and achieve financial performance targets.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, ensuring exceptional guest experiences.
- Ability to organize recreational programs and coordinate special events to meet the needs of the installation’s personnel and community.
- Knowledge of safety and health standards applicable to food service and general hospitality operations.
- Working knowledge of point-of-sale systems, financial reports, and inventory control software.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain all required training and certifications, including Customer Service, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Food Safety and Sanitation, Alcohol Server Intervention Training and local emergency procedures training, with annual recertification as required.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
- Valid country driver’s license
- Certification in food safety, recreational management, or hospitality services.
- Previous military or government facility dining and entertainment venue management experience.
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy or military contract performance standards specific to quality and compliance.
- Creative problem-solving skills, with demonstrated experience in planning and executing recreational and entertainment programs.
- Experience with NAVFAC (Naval Facilities Engineering Command) systems and regulations.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
