Component Engineer

We are looking for a Component Engineer to take ownership of the technical lifecycle management of third-party products that form a critical part of Icomera's connectivity solutions. About the Role
As a Component Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, compliance, and lifecycle management of third-party products used across Icomera's product portfolio. Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams, you will act as the technical focal point for external suppliers and help ensure that critical networking and communication components meet both business and industry requirements.
You will drive technical requirements towards suppliers, manage component lifecycles, oversee certifications and compliance activities, and maintain a central repository of technical product information. Your work will directly contribute to the reliability, performance, and long-term sustainability of the technology used in public transport systems worldwide.
Key responsibilities
- Manage technical relationships with third-party suppliers and ensure alignment with Icomera requirements.
- Drive product lifecycle management activities, including obsolescence planning, software and hardware updates, and end-of-life management.
- Ensure products comply with relevant railway, radio, and cybersecurity standards and certifications.
- Maintain and develop a central knowledge repository containing product documentation, certifications, software releases, and technical updates.
- Support system architecture activities by defining and managing technical requirements for third-party components
Re****quirements
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- 5+ years of experience working in a similar positon
- Strong networking and network infrastructure knowledge.
- Experience with product lifecycle management and obsolescence management.
- Knowledge of technical standards, certification processes, and compliance requirements.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
The following skills we see as meritorious:
- Experience within the railway, rolling stock, or transportation industry.
- Experience with cellular communication technologies and ETSI standards.
- Background in technical documentation and document management systems.
