- Netherlands salary range: €70,501 - €88,126
- UK salary range: £51,904 - £64,880
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Strategic Communications drives the Rainforest Alliance's growth and impact by fusing strategic storytelling with data-driven stakeholder engagement. The Senior Manager, Strategic Communications will lead a team to help transform organizational strategy into scalable communications that span our core business solutions and grow our organizational strategy.
In an evolving landscape where generative AI, automation, and real-time data are reshaping corporate communications, this leader anticipates trends, uses latest technologies, and aligns messaging with our growth objectives. You will serve as a strategic bridge between Corporate Engagement & Partnerships, Product Development, and Regional Leadership, ensuring the Rainforest Alliance's core offerings and impact programs resonate with diverse stakeholders while safeguarding and elevating its global reputation.
You will report to the Director of Corporate Communications and Advocacy.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Spearhead the evolution of the organization's corporate identity and narrative to reflect the evolving landscape of regenerative agriculture, corporate sustainability, ESG priorities, and digital-first engagement, ensuring consistency, relevance, and competitive differentiation.
Guide the creation and execution of the Strategic Communications annual work plan, aligning with organizational goals and priorities and using analytics to forecast and adapt to industry shifts.
Responsible for organizational narratives, corporate reputation, stakeholder trust, organizational positioning, and measurable business outcomes.
The Senior Manager, Strategic Communications is also a strategic partner for other departments, to ensure that our solutions, programs, and impact are demonstrated to key stakeholders.
Strategic Communications:
- Lead the development of strategic messaging frameworks and communications plans.
- Ensure the consistent application of the Rainforest Alliance's corporate identity, messaging, and strategic narrative across global communications.
- Lead teams to translate organizational priorities and product strategies into clear, audience-specific communications that resonate with or stakeholders (farmers, companies, donors, governments, and civil society).
- Develop strategies, provide strategic communications counsel, and equip leaders with compelling messaging for high-profile global engagements.
- Develop proposals to improve processes, procedures, tools, and innovations related to strategic global and regional communications.
- Monitor the quality and messaging and agreement oncommunications to ensure all communications fit the brand identity and communications strategy.
Team Management
- Manage a high-performing team responsible for translating corporate identity and organizational strategy into consistent, effective communications, with a focus on certification communications and business solutions.
- Build, coach, and further develop the team, fostering innovation, continuous learning, and a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Manage a small Public Affairs team, overseeing the development and execution of the organization's public affairs strategy.
- Develop and implement proposals to improve processes, procedures, tools, and innovations related to strategic global and regional communications.
- Leverage analytics, AI-enabled insights, and data visualization to strengthen storytelling and inform communications strategy.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate and/or strategic communications;
- Experience in people management of varying skills and working with cross-functional teams;
- Experience in FMCG, international development or CSR is advantageous;
- Experience developing and delivering effective communications plans;
- Project management experience;
- Familiarity with project management tools;
- Understanding of working in an international organization, including cultural sensitivities.
