We are looking for a Settlement Claims Officer

CONTEXT

In this role, you will join the Settlement Claims Team in Lisbon, responsible for investigating and managing claims resulting from late settlement across financial products such as Forex, Money Market, Equities, Bonds, and Equity Derivatives.

You will work in a high-volume environment with direct contact with clients, counterparties, and Front, Middle, and Back Office teams.

MAIN MISSION

To investigate settlement claims, validate their legitimacy, and ensure the correct payment or recovery of interest generated by late settlements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze claims related to failed or late settlements.
• Verify and register claims received and paid.
• Investigate the full settlement process and identify the cause of the claim.
• Communicate with clients, counterparties, and Front, Middle, and Back Office teams.
• Send claim letters and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Generate SWIFT payments and follow up on cash breaks.
• Keep claim databases accurate and updated.
• Contribute to process improvements and reduction of operational risk.
• Support the documentation of procedures and operating guides.

PROFILE & SKILLS

• Junior profile, ideally with some previous professional experience.
• Background in Finance, Economics, or Accounting is valued but not mandatory.
• Previous Settlement experience is a plus.
• Strong investigation and analytical skills.
• Proactive, resilient, and comfortable working under business pressure.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Fluent English is essential, particularly for written communication.
