The Institute

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG shares principles of an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team that is supported by high-end and innovative technologies and a flexible and efficient administration.

In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' logo from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role

We are at a critically important moment for the CRG. Our institute is about to rebrand, with a fresh modern look that will launch alongside a brand-new website. We are looking for someone to join the communication team during this hugely exciting period.

You will be the person turning discoveries made inside one of Europe's leading genomics institutes into scroll-stopping short-form video. We are looking for someone with creative flair who is willing to confidently and creatively create the kind of content that makes someone stop and watch content to the end, ideally inspired by what we do.

You will join the Communications team and take real ownership of video content across Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn. You will get behind-the-scenes access most people never see, including labs, microscopes, core facilities, and the researchers behind the headlines, and you will turn it into stories that land with a young, global audience.

During the internship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Concept, script, film and edit short-form video from start to finish for Reels, TikTok, Shorts and LinkedIn.
  • Translate complex research into clear, punchy, genuinely engaging stories for non-specialist audiences.
  • Own content end to end, including from the first idea and the shot list to the final cut and the caption.
  • Get behind the scenes with scientists, labs and core facilities to capture footage no one else has.
  • Spot emerging formats, trends and audio, and adapt them to the CRG voice before they go stale.
  • Track how videos perform and use the numbers to sharpen the next round of content.
  • Contribute to campaigns across events, training, public engagement and science communication.
  • Help build a content pipeline and a library of reusable assets.

What's in it for you

  • A real, published portfolio — a showreel of work made for a respected international research institute
  • Reach — your videos will be seen by tens of thousands of people across CRG's channels.
  • Genuine creative ownership — together with the wider team, your ideas and your edits will shape what a video becomes.
  • Mentorship — hands-on guidance from a professional communications team who will help you understand science communication
  • An international, multilingual environment — in the heart of Barcelona, alongside colleagues from more than 40 countries.
