We’re looking for a Vehicle Control & Integration Engineer to develop embedded control software and integrate it with vehicle systems. You’ll work on the communication and signal interfaces between project software and vehicle components, aligning protocols, signal definitions and system behaviour.
The role combines embedded software development, vehicle controls, functional safety and hands-on validation. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams, OEMs and suppliers to resolve integration issues from bench testing through to in-vehicle verification.
What you’ll do
- Develop production embedded software for chassis, powertrain or body ECUs.
- Design, integrate and tune speed, braking, steering and path-tracking control functions in the vehicle.
- Define and align CAN and CAN-FD interfaces, DBC files, signal definitions and communication behaviour across vehicle systems.
- Implement and validate message protection, including alive counters, CRC checks and timeout handling.
- Develop embedded C software for safety microcontrollers such as AURIX TriCore, using a safety RTOS or AUTOSAR OS.
- Develop safety-rated functions under ISO 26262, maintaining requirements traceability and supporting verification, including MC/DC testing.
- Validate software and interfaces through hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), restbus and in-vehicle testing.
- Use XCP for calibration and measurement, and support test-track validation and braking characterisation.
- Investigate faults across software, communication and ECU interfaces, working with internal teams and suppliers to deliver verified fixes.

- Experience working with a safety RTOS or AUTOSAR OS.
- Experience developing safety-rated functions under ISO 26262 at ASIL B, C or D, including traceability and MC/DC testing.
- Practical knowledge of CAN and CAN-FD at signal level, including DBC files, alive counters, CRC protection and timeout handling.
- Experience with HIL and restbus testing, XCP calibration and measurement, and test-track validation or braking characterisation.
- Fluent English and experience collaborating across OEM and supplier teams.
Helpful additional experience
- Broader vehicle integration experience across multiple ECUs or chassis systems.
