We are looking for a driven and technically curious Verification & Validation Engineer who wants to help shape a new way of developing and validating medical technology — combining hands-on engineering, structured V&V and the latest developments in AI-supported and agentic development.Build technology where software meets the human nervous systemMind Media develops professional neurotechnology used around the world. Our NeXus systems and physiological sensors measure signals such as EEG, EMG, heart rate, respiration and skin conductance. Our new BioTrace+ platform turns these signals into professional applications for biofeedback, neurofeedback, research, rehabilitation, training and human performance.We are expanding our R&D team in Herten and are looking for a technically strong and curious engineer who wants to help us bring new medical devices and software releases to market with confidence.This is not a conventional software-testing position.You will work across software, hardware, sensors, protocols, AI, verification & validation, design-control evidence and product release readiness.What you will doYou will help make sure that new NeXus systems, sensors, BioTrace+ software, protocols and applications are not only working technically, but are also properly verified, documented, traceable and ready for release within our quality and regulatory framework.Your work can include:
- translating user and product requirements into verification and validation activities;
- designing, executing and documenting test protocols;
- testing complete BioTrace+ and NeXus workflows;
- testing software/hardware integration, Windows environments, USB, Bluetooth and sensor connectivity;
- investigating failures, bugs and unexpected system behaviour;
- maintaining traceability between requirements, risks, tests, defects, changes and release evidence;
- checking whether required design & development deliverables are complete before release;
- supporting release-readiness reviews;
- identifying evidence gaps and working with R&D and Quality to close them;
- helping maintain the structured evidence needed for technical documentation and product lifecycle records.
Medical-device development environmentYou will work in a regulated product-development environment and progressively build practical knowledge of applicable standards and processes, including areas such as:
- ISO 13485 quality management and design & development controls;
- IEC 62304 software lifecycle processes, where applicable;
- ISO 14971 risk-management linkage;
- IEC 62366 usability engineering, where applicable;
- applicable medical-device regulatory and release requirements.
You do not need to arrive as a regulatory specialist. What matters is that you understand why evidence, traceability and disciplined development matter and that you want to grow into someone who can see whether a release is truly ready.AI is part of the engineering workflowWe are actively exploring how advanced AI can improve product development and V&V.You may use AI to:
- draft and expand test scenarios;
- identify gaps in requirements and test coverage;
- compare requirements, risks and verification evidence;
- review documentation for inconsistencies or missing deliverables;
- structure bug and test information;
- prepare release evidence and summaries;
- support test automation and repeatable validation workflows.
We are particularly interested in people who already follow the rapid development of AI-assisted engineering, agentic development and AI-supported verification & validation.You do not need to have built a full autonomous agent platform yourself, but you should be comfortable experimenting with modern AI tools and thinking about questions such as:
- Which V&V activities can be accelerated by AI?
- Which evidence can an AI agent prepare safely?
- Where must human review and approval remain mandatory?
- How can AI agents work across requirements, risks, bugs, tests and documentation without losing traceability?
- How do we prevent hallucinated or incomplete evidence from entering a regulated development process?
We are looking for someone who sees AI as an engineering capability, not simply as a chatbot.Who might fit this role?You may currently work as a:
- software test or QA engineer;
- verification & validation engineer;
- test automation engineer;
- software engineer with strong quality/testing affinity;
- systems or integration engineer;
- technical support engineer who wants to move closer to R&D;
- biomedical, electrical or mechatronics engineer with software experience.
Relevant educationA Bachelor or Master degree is preferred in areas such as:
- Computer Science / Informatics;
- Software Engineering;
- Embedded Systems;
- Electrical Engineering;
- Biomedical Engineering;
- Mechatronics;
- Medical Engineering;
- Applied Computer Science or a comparable technical discipline.
The exact degree matters less than your ability to understand complex systems and work methodically across software, hardware and evidence.Experience we valueIdeally you already have practical experience in several of these areas:
- software testing, V&V or quality engineering;
- requirements-based testing;
- test automation or scripting;
- Git / GitHub and modern software-development workflows;
- hardware/software integration;
- Windows troubleshooting, Bluetooth, USB, drivers or device connectivity;
- structured technical documentation;
- regulated software, medical devices, healthtech, automotive, aerospace or another quality-critical environment;
- AI coding assistants, agentic workflows or AI-based automation.
Experience with medical-device software, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971 or usability engineering is a strong advantage, but not an absolute requirement.What we are looking for
- HBO/WO thinking level in a relevant technical discipline;
- strong analytical and troubleshooting ability;
- ability to understand systems end-to-end;
- structured working and documentation discipline;
- good spoken and written English;
- confidence working with modern AI tools;
- genuine interest in agentic development and AI-supported engineering;
- curiosity about neurotechnology and physiological signals;
- willingness to keep learning as AI-supported V&V evolves rapidly.
