Kitchen Supervisor
Empordà Golf Club · Gualta, Spain
You apply off-site, with the employer or the job board. I never handle applications.
We have taken advantage of 2021 to completely modernize the Empordà Golf Club and turn it, not only into one of the most emblematic golf settings in Spain, but also into one of the main 36-hole golf destinations in Europe.
We have made a considerable investment to remodel all the facilities, including the two 18-hole golf courses, the 86-room hotel, and the wellness facilities.
At the heart of the Empordà Golf Resort are its magnificent championship courses – the Empordà Dunes and the Empordà Forest – designed by Robert von Hagge, a globally recognized architect. This was his first creation in Spain, and while both layouts belong to the same architect, that's where the similarities between these two courses end, as each presents different challenges.
Adjacent to the golf courses is the new Empordà hotel, which boasts 86 rooms and suites, all designed with a contemporary style that promotes the rest and relaxation of guests.
Golf is just one of the activities available during your stay at the resort. Guests can also go sailing, cycling, rent a boat, scuba dive, horseback ride, kayak or paddleboard, practice yoga, and attend training classes.
Our privileged location on the Costa Brava is the perfect starting point for guests to discover everything this region has to offer for a sun-seeking getaway: from colorful fishing villages and stunning beaches to unforgettable experiences waiting to be discovered and savored.
Kitchen Supervisor
We are looking for someone who is ready to take the next step in their professional career.
This is not a Head Chef position, but it is not simply a Cook position either.
We are looking for an experienced kitchen professional who is ready to take on more responsibility, coordinate services, help manage a team and begin developing a broader understanding of how a professional kitchen operates.
You will work closely with the Head Chef, Front of House management and Department Management, becoming part of a young, professional and ambitious project with a clear desire to continue growing.
This is a position for someone who wants to build a future.
What do we offer?
- Above-average industry conditions: We believe that responsibility and commitment should be matched by good working conditions. We are looking for stability, commitment and a long-term professional relationship.
- Accommodation opportunities: We understand that a good professional opportunity should not depend on where you currently live. For this reason, accommodation options are available, particularly to facilitate the relocation of people who want to join the project.
- A professional working environment: You will work with clear processes, organisation, quality standards and a defined structure of responsibilities. We want to do things properly and build a working culture away from the improvisation and poor working practices that still exist in parts of the industry.
- Real responsibility, with support: You will have autonomy and responsibility in your day-to-day work, but you will not be on your own. You will work closely with the Kitchen, Front of House and Management teams, sharing decisions, issues and improvement proposals.
- A genuine opportunity for the future: We are not hiring simply to fill a current operational need.
We are looking for someone who can grow with us, progressively take on more responsibility and become an important part of the project.
For the right person, this could be a unique opportunity to accelerate their career: gaining experience in management, leadership and operations, participating in decision-making and preparing to take on positions of greater responsibility in the future.
What will your responsibilities be?
You will be one of the key people responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and coordinating services, ensuring that the kitchen operates in an organised, efficient way and according to our standards.
- Actively participating in service and supporting the team whenever necessary.
- Partially coordinating and managing the kitchen team, allocating tasks and helping to ensure effective organisation.
- Identifying issues during service and using sound judgement to resolve them.
- Participating in the planning and organisation of the kitchen's day-to-day operations.
- Placing and monitoring orders, contributing to effective stock management.
- Supervising the receipt, storage, rotation and use of products.
- Ensuring efficient use of resources, reducing waste and making the most of products.
- Ensuring compliance with quality, organisation, cleanliness and food safety standards.
- Contributing to the development and improvement of the gastronomic offering.
- Maintaining constant communication with the Front of House team, understanding Kitchen and Front of House as parts of the same team.
- Working directly with the Head Chef and Department Management on the organisation, monitoring and continuous improvement of operations.
What profile are we looking for?
We are looking for leadership, but not authority for authority's sake.
For us, managing a team does not mean giving orders. It means knowing how to communicate, anticipate problems, organise, listen and keep the team together, even during the most demanding services.
That is why attitude and the way you work with others are just as important as technical experience.
We particularly value people who:
- Have solid experience working in professional kitchens.
- Are ready to start taking on coordination and management responsibilities.
- Know how to work as part of a team and help others work effectively as a team.
- Have clear, direct and respectful communication skills.
- Remain calm and use good judgement under pressure.
- Know how to give direction, but also listen and accept feedback.
- Show initiative and are able to identify problems before they become urgent.
- Are organised, responsible and rigorous in their work.
- Understand the importance of controlling costs, stock, waste and product usage.
- Have curiosity, professional ambition and a desire to keep learning.
We are not necessarily looking for a Head Chef. This point is important.
You do not need to have previously worked as a Head Chef.
We are particularly interested in someone who has been working successfully in professional kitchens for some time, has developed sound judgement and experience, and feels ready to take the next step but may not yet have had the opportunity to prove themselves.
We want to give you that opportunity.
You will work alongside experienced professionals, progressively take on more responsibility and develop skills in team management, organisation, purchasing, product control, interdepartmental coordination and leadership.
An opportunity for the future
We want to bring someone on board who is not thinking only about the next season, but about the next few years of their career.
If you have the right attitude, judgement, work ethic and professional ambition, you will find a project willing to give you responsibility and room to grow.
Good working conditions, accommodation opportunities, a young team, a professional environment and a genuine opportunity for career development.
If you feel ready to stop being simply another member of a kitchen team and start taking on greater responsibility, we would love to hear from you.
