• Delivery Management
  • Plan and sequence work with the Product Owner and Tech Lead, break epics into deliverable work, maintain a healthy backlog, and report risks clearly
• Technical Judgement
  • Review designs and significant changes, challenge decisions that create long-term costs, and assess technical complexity across the stack
• High-Risk Changes
  • Own migrations, environment rebuilds, and other irreversible changes through runbooks, verification gates, rollback plans, and go/no-go decisions
• Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure requirements, validation evidence, and defects are properly documented, traceable, and ready for audit
• Engineering Practices
  • Own branch and review policies, CI/CD reliability, testing, Definition of Done, and incident and defect handling
• Platform Health
  • Monitor reliability, security, and technical debt while making clear decisions on priorities and acceptable risks
• People Leadership
  • Line manage and coach engineers, set expectations, provide feedback, support development, hire when needed, and address performance issues
• Stakeholder Management
  • Work across Product, QA, Security, Platform, Infrastructure, and external vendors to align regulatory and engineering requirements Requirements

  • Experience managing a software engineering team with direct line management responsibility
• Technical Background
  • Software engineering background with current technical credibility and the ability to review code, understand infrastructure, and reason about distributed systems
• Regulated Environments
  • Experience delivering in environments where correctness, auditability, or data integrity are more important than speed
• Change Ownership
  • Demonstrated ownership of difficult-to-reverse changes, including verification planning, rollback, and risk management
• Team Improvement
  • Evidence of improving engineering team practices, processes, and ways of working beyond the products delivered
• Technical Communication
  • Strong written communication skills for creating clear plans, technical decisions, defect records, and status updates
