System Engineer

About the Role
You will become part of our IT Operations team and play a key role in ensuring the stability, availability, and continuous improvement of Icomera's infrastructure environments.
While the role is primarily focused on operating and maintaining server and infrastructure platforms, you will work closely with Cloud Platform Engineering, Networking Engineering, and Security teams to ensure that our services remain secure, observable, and capable of supporting both business operations and product development.
This is a hands-on technical role where you will contribute to everything from daily operations and system lifecycle management to automation initiatives that improve consistency, scalability, and reliability across our environments.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the infrastructure that supports Icomera's business operations. You will ensure that our server and infrastructure environments remain stable, secure, and well-maintained throughout their lifecycle, while driving automation and operational improvements that increase reliability and reduce manual work. Working closely with Cloud Platform Engineering, Networking, Security, and external vendors, you will contribute to building a resilient and scalable foundation for the business.
More specifically, you will:
- Operate, maintain, and continuously improve server and infrastructure environments across on-prem and cloud platforms.
- Manage the infrastructure lifecycle, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Monitor system health and performance, troubleshoot incidents, and contribute to reliable backup, recovery, and security practices.
- Develop and maintain automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency, consistency, and operational quality.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors on troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
- Participate in the IT Operations on-call rotation and support incident response. Re****quirements
We're looking for someone with experience in systems engineering, infrastructure operations, or a similar technical role. You have a strong background working with Linux-based environments and enjoy troubleshooting, operating, and improving critical systems in production. You are comfortable working close to the technology and have experience with modern infrastructure environments, including cloud platforms such as AWS, containers, monitoring, and automation.
You also understand the importance of security, reliability, and operational excellence in business-critical environments.
To succeed in this role, we also believe you have:

Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar.

Experience with at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python, Bash, or equivalent.

A good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP.

Understanding of IT security principles and operational best practices.

5-8 years of relevant experience within systems engineering or IT operations.

Formal education in IT, or equivalent professional experience.

Fluency in English, both written and spoken. The following skills we see as meritorious:

Experience working in cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments.

Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code and automation practices in production environments.

Familiarity with database technologies such as PostgreSQL or MariaDB. Who You Are
